GAP graduates at Chhipulukusu, Zambia |
Zambia has one of the highest child marriage rates in the world according to Girls Not Brides. We're working to change that one-girl-at-a-time by providing scholarships, mentoring, and support systems for girls in the HealthEd Connect schools. We can -- and must-- change this statistic! Girls who marry young have children who are more likely to be sickly, fewer job opportunities, less family income and the inability to live up to their potential.
The Girls Achievement Programs (GAP) is one of the most popular extracurricular activities in our schools. Each time we make a site visit, we look forward to visiting with the self-assured, poised, and energetic graduates of the GAP program who are now attending high school with the assistance of HealthEd Connect scholarships. YOU GO GIRLS!
