Makes you feel good all over!

You'll feel good all over!
One of my friends use to say her grandfather taught her to "sip from the saucer".  What a great idea! If your cup is running over and there's overflow in your saucer, please sip from your abundance and share it with children and women whose lives will be changed forever.

There's still time to make a tax deductible gift in 2015 that will fill....

 ......minds with knowledge
...... tummies with nutritious food
.......hearts with loving thoughts, and
...... communities with hope

End of year Bonus

Chipulukusu students celebrating exam scores

December Closing Day Ceremonies

We just received an email from Bernard, our School Board Chair at Chips saying:

WE DID IT AGAIN!  Then he went on to say that the 7th grade graduates achieved 100% on their standardized examinations.  Last year was the first year to have 7th grader graduates.  They set the bar at 100% pass rate so this group is living up to their example.

But that's not all!  We received another email a few days later from Loveness, the head teacher at Kasompe, saying their 7th graders also made 100% on the exam.  Hallelujah!

Maybe you're thinking by now it's an easy test since both schools did so well.  Well here's what it consists of....
  • Creative and Technology studies - 75 minutes
  • Math - 90 minutes
  • English - 60 minutes
  • Integrated Science - 60 minutes
  • Verbal reasoning - 60 minutes
  • Non-verbal reasoning - 60 minutes
  • Social and Developmental Studies - 60 minutes
  • Local Language - 60 minutes
Still think it might have been an easy exam???

Christmas Nickels

Thank you Amazon!!
Think small change isn't valuable?  Well, think again!  We just received $214.63 from Amazon because you chose HealthEd Connect as your charity of choice when you shopped SmileAmazon. That purchased 1788 bowls of porridge at no expense to you since Amazon donates $.05 for every dollar you spend.  When you do your Christmas shopping at Amazon this year, just remember to SMILE and go to Smile.amazon.com.

Community empowerment

Workmen building Kasompe School
At first glance it appears the HealthEd Connect programs are benefiting only those directly touched such as the orphans and vulnerable children.  The web of empowerment and community building, however, reaches far beyond the first tier.  Theresa, our School Board Chair in Kasompe recently reminded us,
"The contractor hired 20 men to help him. He has brick layers, helpers, carpenters and an electrician.  These young men are from within the community. Yes very wonderful experience for them.  A lot of people have benefitted even businessman and they have a need to smile. I have just talked to the contractor, he says likely [the classrooms will be finished] by mid or end of January."
We're planning a ribbon-cutting in January for a truly community school!

Kids to Kids

Woods Chapel children discussing needs of Nepali children
The children at the Woods Chapel congregation in Lee's Summit, Missouri have closely followed the impact of the earthquake in Nepal.  Every Sunday they bring their change and drop it into "The Jar" to help the people most affected.  To date they've raised over $833.00

Today they accepted a new challenge.  Knowing the children are still having a tough time with The Day the Earth Shook never far from their minds, another project was born.  The Woods Chapel children made little Wishing Well banks from milk cartons and are collecting money throughout advent.  This time the donation will be a child-to-child gift for books and supplies to let the Nepali children know they are not forgotten.

We're awe struck!

Your generosity on #GivingTuesday brought in an incredible $11,700!!

Ready for even more amazing news?    These donations pushed us over the top of our first $I,000,000 since incorporation in 2006!  We're striking up the band, throwing tons of confetti and sending a huge THANK YOU to our supporters for reaching this awesome milestone!!

The real celebration, of course, is about the lives these funds have lifted.

Countless people have benefitted from the ministries of the tireless health workers.  Because of them,  thousands of babies have been safely delivered in DR Congo, 900+ vulnerable children have received the gift of education in 3 state-of-the-art schools in Zambia, more than 150,000 babies have been monitored and are thriving in Malawi, and life-saving emergency food, medicine, and tents were delivered to remote villages immediately after the Nepal earthquake.

On behalf of the countless people who are thriving because of YOU, we send our sincere and heartfelt thanks!
